Sander van Doorn Electric Zoo Photos
Embarassing as it may be, I had never seen Sander van Doorn before Electric Zoo 2012. While I’ve read reviews and listened to multiple sets, there was a certain feeling of the high expectation that left me wondering if he could deliver. After experiencing an hour of high energy progressive house and dancing bliss (something I haven’t really felt since seeing Pryda), I can honestly advise you never to miss a van Doorn set.
I knew less than half the songs, only catching pieces of one before he mixed into the other. What separates excellence from mediocrity is that ability to read the energy of the crowd and play to it. I found myself less thinking of what to write about and more being captured by the music, a glance around showed everyone almost certainly felt the same.
Plus you can’t really do any wrong playing Kangaroo, Don’t You Worry Child and ending with Dear New York. However, my favorite moment had to be the Tiesto remix of Somebody That I Used To Know into his own track Koko.
