David Satori is no stranger to phenomenal electronic music after years of producing crushing future bass, and now he gives us “Subliminal”, a single from the What’s Going On EP which drops Friday 10/30 on Funkadelphia Recordings.
True to its name, the track is peppered with short, nearly subliminal blips of automated sound in addition to a weighty voice sampling which details the power of subliminal messaging. True to Satori’s past production techniques “Subliminal” is highlighted by sharp, aggressive buzzsaw synthesizers and driven by an undulating sub bass melody. Satori blends the best of the deep, original UK dubstep sound of groups like Digital Mystikz with the more Americanized, synthesizer-based dubstep a la early Zeds Dead. Name dropping is irrelevant when it comes to a humble and talented old head like Satori, but the comparison serves to describe the lush, layered sound of “Subliminal”.
Stream “Subliminal” and pick up the What’s Going On EP, which contains all original production, from Funkadelphia Recordings on Friday, October 30.
