Savoy’s Live Version Remix of “The Wolf” came out today which reminds us of their latest melting pot of an EP, featuring collaborations with Bright Lights, Fatherdude, Porsches, and Jojee, entitled Tomorrow Today, Pt. 1. It really caught my attention, sharing a snapshot of where the EP took me was easy to do. Savoy have been around for a while and what they’re about been out there for multiple years. I was interested to see what they would bring to the table – and was pleasantly surprised.
There are so many crossovers in this EP, each song fitting into certain thresholds of electronic music and rock genres, allowing the songs to stand out from each other as well as the overall experience to be memorable.
“Say Know More” is the head turning rock-pop song fused with the upbeat side of the Savoy style, grabbing the everyday listener. “The Wolf” is an introverted, mid-tempo Glitch Mob / Ratatat feeling song. “Wolf Pt. 2 (He Only Comes Out At Night)” was a favorite, I couldn’t escape the idea of framing this one as “Deadmau5, k?d, and a rock-anthem having a baby.” “Stay (ft. Jojee)” is the more commercial future bass oriented single undoubtedly perking the ears of SoundCloud seeking dance music junkies. “Neon Nebraska (ft. Porsches)” is a clear indie /electronic / rock feel that fits in perfectly at this spot in the Tomorrow Today, Pt. 1 EP. “Living Color (feat. Fatherdude)” really surprised me, never would I imagined a deep house vibe could be mixed with electric guitar, but Savoy does this with astounding timing, grace, and personality. Those three elements also being characters you find throughout the 6-track journey reflectively.
