We have had a few days now to really explore every crevice of the classic trance soundscape merged into Seven Lions’ universe with his Seven Lions: 1999 EP and we are left just kissing the edges of our fingers as it truly is just perfect. Creating trance renditions of some of his most highly streamed and beloved tracks, Jeff Montalvo was able to make us fall in love all over again with them and grow even fonder of one of the main roots of EDM, trance. Montalvo has seen a lot of success and hasn’t let the limitations of the past year get in the way of his journey. We have seen a mountainous level of releases from his Ophelia label, a return to solo work with his EP Find Another Way, streaming on Twitch to thousands of fans, and fire collaborations like “Foolish of Me” and “Don’t Wanna Fall”.
While everything coming out of the label and from the man himself, Montalvo was still searching for inspiration. With the pandemic preventing artists from touring and playing for fans, it’s been difficult to find inspiration and creativity at times. But Seven Lions dug deep into the well of music that has helped him flourish and saw how his own music would sound in the lens of 1990’s trance. And the results are magical. His remixes of “Rush Over Me”, “Days to Come”, “Worlds Apart”, and “Higher Love” have almost reinvented the beauty that these tracks hold and reinvigorate the taste level that he is capable of.
You can transport yourself to the 90’s with the Seven Lions: 1999 EP on Apple Music and Spotify now.
