Seven Lions’ renowned Journey tour has been making stops all around the nation delivering a fresh blend of music with each performance. He’s known for the feels and good memories that are delivered in every set and NYC was no different. Furthermore, Seven Lions took production to a new level and brought in multiple lasers for this legendary show. For this performance he employed the help of artists Grum, Xilent, and Pegboard Nerds. A lineup like this brought a mixing of genres to Terminal 5 that was welcomed by attendees. A fusing of trance and dubstep both melodic and hard perfectly set the stage for Seven Lions who regularly incorporates both in his performances.
Grum took the stage first around 8 PM and delivered a classic trance set that fans fell in love with. An Anjunabeats signee, Grum’s set was the perfect start to a blissful night delivering a melodic and uplifting trance performance. Next up on the ballot was Xilent who showed Terminal 5 the harder side of dubstep. Head banging could be seen all across the venue as bass heads alike rallied to the grimy, dirty beats. Before we knew it Xilent was wrapping his set up and making room for Pegboard Nerds who took the decks right before Seven Lions. Pegboard Nerds would drop a mix of their originals in addition to some remixes and new tracks to be released.
Seven Lions took the stage right around 11:30 and was met with cheers and screams as die hard fans moved in closer in order to get a look at the famed producer. He would drop a load of his originals like Don’t Leave ft Ellie Goulding and Worlds Apart ft Kerli. In recent months Seven Lions has been dabbling in the trance aspect of production and dropped his trance original Cusp and his remix of Illenium’s Fortress. On the harder aspect of things he would mix in some psytrance which brought out another side of trance not commonly heard in the mainstream. The crowd would join together in arms as he dropped his well known collaboration with Myon & Shane 54, Strangers. His set would wrap up right around 12:45 and a more than memorable night was in the books.
The performances from each artist were undoubtedly more than stellar. However, the production of the show set it far apart from any previous nights at Terminal 5. A diamond type stage matched with about five lasers stunned the crowd and left jaws agape. Diamond visuals on screen brought fans into a ‘trance’ that seemed impossible to escape from. The first few rows of Terminal 5 were absolutely melted with lasers in addition to the above the top production that stole the show. As someone who has attended multiple shows at Terminal 5, this night was beyond amazing and I wish nothing more than to enter my time machine and relive it. If The Journey tour is making a stop near you soon I highly suggest you buy a ticket and prepare for the night of your life.
And a final message to Seven Lions, please come back to NYC soon, we are counting the days until your next performance in the city that never sleeps.
