According to InTheMix.com, SFX Entertainment plans on adding to their growing list of electronic dance music businesses by acquiring Totem, the company behind Australia’s Stereosonic. If you go down the list of SFX’s holdings you might be surprised. Entities include: Beatport, Disco Donnie Presents, Life in Color, and ID&T. They are also set to gain 60% of i-Motion GmbH, a German events company, as well as a 70% of Made Event.
“I’m not looking to do a hundred festivals. We’re going to have a handful of the best and improve on them each year.” – Shelly Finkel, Head of Acquisitions, SFX Entertainment
Although Shelly Finkel says SFX isn’t trying to host a hundred festivals, it sure seems like they’re planning on making a significant global impact. As our good friend Kanye West once said: “No one man should have all that power“. I don’t know what’s in-store for the festival circuit if SFX should continue this takeover. We’ll just have to wait and see how everything plays out and hope for the best.
