In just a month that will hopefully fly by, fans will begin to kick off the summer festival season down in Atlanta at Shaky Beats. The music festival is back with an incredible lineup, featuring favorites like Seven Lions, Dillon Francis, Marshmello, and Zedd to hit the decks this May. Each day has an excellent mix of genres, so everyone will have music to get down to. Someone we are very excited to see headline the last day down in Central Park is the tropical house titan, Kygo.
Kyrre Gørvell-Dahll began his journey as Kygo back in 2014, where he garnered recognition with remixes such as Ed Sheeran’s “I See Fire” and Coldplay’s “Midnight.” He reached over 55 million plays which helped boost his first single “Firestone.” Sony International and Ultra Music quickly signed him to their label after Dahll received support from Avicii and took over his set at TomorrowWorld 2014 when Avicii could no longer make it. From humble beginnings in Bergen, Norway playing the piano for his family and friends, to now being a well known figure in tropical house, Kygo has proven time and time again his talents are always transforming. He quickly started topping the charts with singles like “ID,” which was also featured in UMF’s 2015 official trailer and “Stay,” the track that gave him the title of fastest artist to reach one billion streams on Spotify. Dahll’s domination of the scene skyrocketed from there.
In 2016 he won “Best Breakthrough DJ” and “Best Breakout Artist” by the International Dance Music Awards. Just recently, he made #3 on Billboard’s Top Dance 100, which proves just how talented and sharp he really is. At the end of his “Kids In Love” tour, Kygo sold out the Barclays Center with his biggest production yet, with vocalists like MØ and Parson James. Soon after, Apple Music released Stole the Show, a documentary about the hard-working artist that showcased where his love for music started and how he has pushed his career into fruition. After bringing the tropical house genre into the spotlight, he continue to aspire for innovation. Kygo has worked and continues to bridge the gap between electronic music and other genres with tracks like “Happy Birthday” with John Legend, “Stranger Things” featuring OneRepublic, and his remix with U2’s “You’re the Best Thing About Me.” Dahll is always focused on expanding his production and including new features into his work, making him a must see artist.
Shaky Beats is a little over a month away and we already know that the weekend is going to be incredible, especially with Kygo on the docket to close out the festival.
