This past Friday GLOW DC brought hard-style and bass heavyweights Showtek, Candyland and MakJ to the number one club on the East Coast, Echostage. It was my first time seeing these artists and needless to say they did not disappoint. Janko & Sakellis warmed up the crowd for the first hour with sounds of electro-house vibes that were the perfect prequel to Candyland’s epic set.
Even though our girl Josie from the duo Candyland was riding solo and was feeling a little under the weather before her performance she made sure no one could tell a difference and blew the audience’s mind with banger after banger. Then topped off her performance with one of her OG songs and my personal favorite remix of Darude’s “Sandstorm” with Calvin Harris’s “Feel So Close” fused into one that brought down the house. We’re counting the days till we get to her her bad beats and even badder afro again.
Showtek came at the crowd full force with hard hitting house tracks that looked as much fun for them to play as it was for the crowd to dance. They set the crowd off with their “We Like To Party” and one of my personal favorites “Easy” by Porter Robinson & Mat Zo. They engaged with the crowd the whole time and were so much fun to watch perform. They came with so much energy and by the time they left the stage we were not ready for their set to be over.
Luckily Makj took the stage and offered up a trapalicious set to close the night. The crowd wanted to dance and he made sure they did. I love it when some of my favorite songs from years back get put into the mix, such as Eve & Gwen Stefani’s “Let Me Blow Ya Mind”. Another favorite of his set was him dropping Jack U’s “Beats Knockin” which gets everyone riled up.
Once again GLOW DC did not disappoint and brought yet another great lineup to Echostage to set off the weekend. We’re looking forward to another banger next weekend. See you then!
