If you’re a New Yorker looking for plans on October 31st, look no further – UK psybient (that’s psychedelic + ambient) act Shpongle is coming to Terminal 5, and we can’t think of a more appropriate way to spend your Halloween.
Shpongle is comprised of Simon Posford and Raja Ram, who work together to create a unique landscape of sounds. Their songs are rich in texture, weaving together traditional world music and more current electronica. The Terminal 5 show – and this Shpongle tour in general – will feature Simon Posford along with the Shpongletron, a custom booth with video displays to truly meld together sight and sound for the ultimate mind-altering and mind-blowing experience.
The Shpongletron continues to be updated over the years, and features screens surrounding the booth with video mapped images projected onto them. This work of art was created by Boston-based artist Zebbler, and is truly something not to be missed. Terminal 5 will serve as the perfect venue for experiencing the Shpongletron, as you can view the show from the main floor or either of the 2 balcony levels.
This Halloween show is perfectly timed so as to come right after the release of Shpongle’s new album, Codex VI, so fans can expect to hear fresh, new music in addition to tracks from across the spectrum of Shpongle’s 20-year career (check out Museum of Consciousness, one of our favorite Shpongle albums, below).
So get your costume ready and come on out to Terminal 5 this October 31st – we guarantee it will be a delightfully weird and truly memorable night.
