Hi everybody, and welcome to the Shuffle Button. We don’t feel like doing much of an introduction today, instead let’s jump right into it.
Romanthony – Bring U Up (Jasper James Remix)
We’re starting off this edition with some energetic and head-nodding house.
Jasper James is a big figure in the Glasgow house scene, which routinely churns out big names (think Jackmaster and Hudson Mohawke). In his remix of “Bring U Up”, he creates a clean sound with the single-minded purpose of making you dance. When Romanthony says “Let’s Go”, you know it’s time to groove.
GotSome – Gurlz And Boyz
GotSome are making their second consecutive appearance in the Shuffle Button this week with the brand spanking new “Gurlz and Boyz”. Annie Mac premiered it two weeks ago on her Friday show and it absolutely bumps.
This track follows the GotSome’s formula of great house with a tribal flavor accompanied by hypnotic vocals. The loud and pounding bass-line completes the song and entices you to dance.
Danny Byrd – Devil’s Drop
Keeping with the theme of brand new music, we present Danny Byrd’s latest concoction. Due to be released next week on Hospitality, “Devil’s Drop” mixes break beats and heavy drops to create a sub-genre straddling sound.
This song mixes both levity with weight, guitar riffs and snares with heavy, powerful bass. The finished product is just as polished as the releases we come to expect from Byrd. It’s one for drum and bass purists along with those that just want to listen to it and have a good time.
Green Velvet – La La Land (Walker & Royce Remix)
It’s always tough to remix a great song by an iconic artist. The remixer must keep the vibe of the original while adding a personal touch to distinguish it.
Walker and Royce did an incredible job by doubling down on zany and eccentric attitudes in their version of “La La Land”. The random bits and bobs, pings and pongs in this song match Green Velvet’s vocal perfectly and make you feel like you’re following him on his journey into his own mental hospital.
Tre Oh Fie – Neva Seen It Like Dis
Tre Of Fie turns back the clock with this song. “Neva Seen It Like Dis” hearkens back to the sound that Dava Nada blew crowds away with when he created the genre 8 years ago.
This is moombahton done right. No filler, heavy beats, and an insistent bass-line. It’s one to make you get down and dirty on the dancefloor.
CHOOOOOOOOOON of the Week
Fedde Le Grand – Put Your Hands Up For Detroit
In 2007 Fedde Le Grand struck gold when he released “Put Your Hands Up For Detroit”. Upon first hearing, this electro-house tune makes your ears perk up and implants itself firmly in your mind. The offbeat rhythm is immediately recognizable and still goes off more than ten years later. It’s longevity is a testament to it’s uniqueness and its ability to move a dancefloor. Enjoy!
Thanks for listening, we’ll see you next week.
