Welcome back to the Shuffle Button.
This week we are going to start off slow, and build up to a frenzy. By the end of this you will be moving and grooving.
Rae Morris – Do It (Icarus Remix)
We’re going to start off this week, with something a little bit lighter.
Icarus brings their trademark flowy and melodic sound to the already wispy Do It. It has a dreamy quality that is enhanced by Rae Morris’s airy voice. This song just encourages you to zone, almost like you’re laying in the grass on a sunny day and daydreaming.
It’s a great way to start off this week with a light, dreamy, and relaxing tune.
High Contrast – Love On A 45
Staying with the lighter vibe, we are going to listen to some drum and bass, that’s right drum and bass. Not all drum and bass is heavy and aggressive. In fact, High Contrast is a massive name in liquid drum and bass.
This track is upbeat without being heavy. It has a bouncy combination of organs, horns, and of course the classic liquid backing. It just puts you in a great mood, and you can’t help but smile when this comes on.
Doc Daneeka – Never Wanna Lose You
Moving more into some proper dance floor music. We’re getting a big helping of breaks. This is not a new song, but it still bumps.
Doc Daneeka starts you out with some classic break beats as an intro, and just keeps building. Before you know it, you’re getting like three or four different breaks layered onto each other.
By this point you should be starting to get your groove on.
Mark Knight & Ben Remember – Let Me Go
Ok by now we’re fully on the dancefloor and we’re moving.
Mark Knight and Ben Remember bring the energy in this tech house track. These artists need no introduction and this song has Mark Knight’s fingerprints all over it. From the deep and powerful beat, to the high notes that just coax you out onto the dancefloor, this just screams Toolroom Records.
Raumakustik – Trigger Kick
Aaaand this is it. This is what we’ve been building to. This is the heavy hitter to put it all away. We dipped our toe into the techno pool with Mark Knight, but now we’re jumping straight in.
This “Kick” to the chest is from a brand new EP by Raumakustik (also named Trigger Kick). This track is straight power. This is proper late night, heavy beats, you don’t know who you are kind of music.
We could go on forever about this track, but honestly, once you listen to it you instantly understand it. This neck snapping record is the perfect way to round out our journey from light and airy to dark and heavy.
CHOOOON of the Week
Riton feat. Kah-Lo – Rinse & Repeat
We’re going to wrap up this week’s post with a certified banger.
Two years ago, Riton burst onto the scene with Rinse and Repeat. After one listen to this, it is fairly obvious that Riton had success ahead of him. Kah-Lo crushes it with a great vocal that just gets you up and keeps you going and Riton backs it up with some industrial sounds that combine to make an unmistakable tune.
Enjoy the choooons, and see you next week.
