Hi everybody and welcome back to the Shuffle Button. Because we missed you last week, we put some extra work into this one. Enjoy the tunes.
Fracture – Makin’ Hype Tracks
We’ll be starting off this week with a bit of jungle. In “Makin’ Hype Tracks,” Fracture brings his penchant for making drum and bass tracks with attitude.
The track hits on a riff that is singularly powerful and needles it back and forth. It’s not complicated, but it’s always vibing. Somewhat lightweight on the production, the track focuses on letting the music speak for itself. It features a small horn sample that gives the track a somewhat retro feel and uses pauses to emphasize the minimalist production.
Westworld – The Slam (Gerd Janson Edit)
Hip-hop wasn’t always about being hard, making money, and getting girls like it seems to be now. Way back when, it was pure party music. Featuring samples from 90’s hip hop, Gerd Janson does his best to bring that mentality back in his edit of “The Slam”.
Featuring iconic elements such as a bell tinged bass-line, classic vocals, and record scratching, Janson encourages listeners to get a fresh high top fade and put on your best track suit.
A track fit for Kid ‘n Play, “The Slam” combines old school hip hop elements, and Janson’s house sound. It’s a perfect marriage of classic elements from both genres.
Blackmagic – Freedom (Make It Funky) (Color 4 Frankie’s Dub Mix)
Keeping with the house movement, “Freedom (Make It Funky)” makes sure that the old school style stays on the speakers. The Color 4 Frankie’s Dub Mix drops a gospel house feel into our jacking vibe.
The soulful and bouncy vocal matches the funky keyboards to create a fun-loving atmosphere. The layered bass-line manages to pace the song and bring some low-level heft.
Space Masters – Jumping To The Party (U.S.U. Mix)
In their “Jumping To The Party” remix, U.S.U. bring a different vibe to Space Masters’ original German techno track. The flute produced rhythm stays, but a classic Chicago house bass-line changes the dynamic of the whole song.
The well-placed chords match up with old school organ rhythms to transport you straight back to Midwestern clubs from days gone by. Put on your neon spandex it’s time to hit the club, 90’s style.
UNIIQU3 & Ase Manual – 2 The Floor
We hope you got settled in with the repeat house offerings, because that stability changes right now. Instead, we’ll be moving onto some frenetic jersey club music.
“2 The Floor” is a hectic jam that gets you hype. From the minute UNIIQU3’s voice comes over your speakers, it’s go time. Straight horns, bass, and madness.
It’s a quick song that is packed with energy and encourages you to just lose it.
CHOOOOOON of the Week
Safari Duo vs. Barthezz – Played A Move
Bongos, steel drums & eurotrance? It may sound like an unholy combination, but man they go together oh so well.
A staple in aggressive trance mixes, this mashup provides some much needed texture to both psytrance and eurotrance sets. It’s the perfect track to shake things up just a bit while keeping to the overall sound.
But this song is more than just a tool in a deejay set. It balances perfectly on its own. Nervous to just blast eurotrance in your car? Don’t worry now that bongos have been added, it’s totally normal! Ok, normal might not be the right word, but these two seemingly disparate sounds come together magically.
Two Great songs (“Played A Live” and “On The Move”) combine like Megazord to make one incredible super song.
