Ushering in the future of genre-bending through their innovative sound design, trip-hop duo JulEYE is back with their new single, “Fly Away”. The song calls upon features from other gifted artists, Manic Focus drummer Colby Buckler and renowned rapper ProbCause. Starting off with scratching sound effects and a fast beat, “Fly Away” introduces a catchy melody while ProbCause sings the title repeatedly, as the arrangement features deep bass frequencies. Suddenly, the track transforms into a section of hyperspeed breakbeats blended with live drumming. The beats are supported by sub bass and followed by bright synth chords and industrial sounds. ProbCause rounds out “Fly Away” by delivering a smooth verse, with skillful lyrics and wordplay.
Showcasing their production expertise, “Fly Away” perfectly embodies the imagination behind Since JulEYE. Based out of Denver, the pair consists of DJ-producer hybrid Lev Averbakh and seasoned keyboardist Todd Stoops. Between Stoops’ jam band abilities and Averbakh’s energetic hip-hop soundscapes, Since JulEYE is match made in heaven.
Since debuting their project, JulEYE has already shocked crowds at prominent festivals, such as Gem & Jam, Summer Camp Music Festival, Color Field, and Wavespell. “Fly Away” is sure to be played in Since julEYE’s electrifying live sets and precedes their highly anticipated forthcoming LP.
