It has been so long since we first heard about Skrillex and Kanye West collaborating that I honestly forgot about it. But if you remembered, you would have probably noticed that their track didn’t make the cut for Kanye’s recently released “Yeezus” album. However on “Yeezus” you’ll find familiar names like Daft Punk, Hudson Mohawke, and Gesaffelstein. Five records were produced by the previously mention artists, and the titles include “On Sight”, “Black Skinhead”, “I Am A God”, “New Slaves”, and “Send It Up”.
Regardless, in a recent interview with Pitchfork.com, another album contributor, Mike Dean, spoke on why Skrillex’s talents didn’t get to shine on Kanye’s seventh studio album.
“You’ll find there’s no bass wobbles on this album. Dubstep is really big right now, but it’s not something we could use in our production styles. We met up with Skrillex… there’s one song that’s sitting around that’s pretty good– it’ll be on something eventually. It had been in the running since last year. It’s a work in progress.” – Mike Dean
