Digging through Soundcloud to find the perfect mix for your mood is sometimes daunting and discouraging. While sifting through some pages, our WhiteRaverRafting team has found Skrillex Selects- a playlist created by the great dub-king himself listing off five songs that he enjoys listening to at the current moment.
Lately, Skrillex has been collabing and endorsing many different subgenres of EDM. This not only has helped develop his own signature sound, but also has helped us music lovers discover some great new tunes. Over the course of this year, while promoting his new sound, Skrill has put out a few mixed tapes on his Soundcloud page. His mixes highlight other artists remixing his work and introduces songs he loves by his favorite artists to his fans. His latest mixed-tape installment called Skrillex Selects takes us on a quick journey through the diversified EDM-sphere.
The playlist starts out with best buddy and tour-mate Dillon Francis. The track, from new album Money Sucks, Friends Rule starts this playlist with a moombahton-party vibe to pump up the crowd. The mix slowly melds into a more tropical house vibe to a chill vibe with tracks from $aturn and Banks, perfect for getting into the autumn mindset. He keeps with the chill vibe with a feature from Heny Krinkle that’s a modern take on house. Rounding out the end of Skrillex Selects is a heavy drumstep song from Must Die. Skrillex must’ve wanted us to wake up from the body high of those last three songs by pumping “Hellcat” into our ears. The playlist shows all of the newest trends in EDM by providing a seamless journey into different sub-genres.
