This past Friday, renowned trap artists Slander and Wuki arrived in New York City for their much anticipated performance at Webster Hall. Wuki started the festivities off just right with his funky beats and assortments of trap, and he proved to be a powerful opener for Slander and had the crowd bouncing for the majority of his set right up until Slander took the decks. As the LA based producers opened up with “In The End” by Linkin Park, the energy could be felt flowing all throughout Webster. The fans became one vocal chord, and the lyrics for the memorable song rang out all across Webster. Moments later the bass would be pulsating off and it was fair to say that Slander’s set was in full swing.
Slander’s song choices can be described as a mix of their personal classics and bass heavy trap that nearly dissolved me into the puddle I would later become in their set. Dropping their popular festival trap remix of “We Like To Party” was a highlight moment of the whole show. Not only because it’s one of their most popular songs, but because the crowd responded with intense energy as it felt almost like they were dropping the remix for the first time ever. Webster Hall became ecstatic as New Yorkers jumped and moshed to the hard hitting trap anthem.
Upon dropping their new remix of Adelle’s “Hello”, Slander would bring New York City to trap heaven paradise with their latest release. As their set neared the end, they dropped their latest singles, “Love Again” and “Breathe”. It was during these two songs that I became the puddle that was referred to earlier. Not only did Slander absolutely crush Webster Hall, but they reminded NYC that they are the trap kings. The feeling about their performance was apparently mutual, as this was their tweet following the show. Come back soon, Slander!
