He’s got only one rule that he always follows: keep people on the dance floor at all costs.
With fresh remixes of Zeds Dead and Porter Robinson, energy full sets at EDC and Made in America and a desire to create his own rules, we caught up with none other than Vancouver’s own Sleepy Tom at the first chance we had. He has a new EP coming out soon and tons of plans for the future and coming year. Check out our exclusive interview here:
RaverRafting: Hey, Sleepy Tom! A little birdie mentioned you have an EP coming out soon. Tell us absolutely everything about that!
Sleepy Tom: It’s called The Times and it should be out early next year! “In My Head” and “Move” are the first two singles off of it, and the rest are all songs I’ve made in the last year or two. The have all been made with a more pop-songwriting approach.
RR: For “In My Head” and “Move,” what were the production of these tracks like and where did you take your inspiration from?
ST: Yeah! I made both of the tracks with friends at my studio here in Vancouver. It was fun to collaborate with people I’ve worked with and known for a while. I tried to make these songs sound like nothing I’ve done before.
RR: Speaking of the entire finished product, what should fans expect from this EP? Are you experimenting out of your genre or keeping true to a familiar sound?
ST: I guess the EP will sound quite a bit different from my other material, but they’re some of my favorite songs I’ve ever made!
RR: How would you describe your sound to someone who has never heard your tracks before?
ST: Like the feeling you get driving 10 over the speed limit on a hot day, sunglasses on, feeling real cool man.
RR: Now tell us, how was your summer? Anything exciting?
ST: It was great! I went to Bali with my girlfriend, saw family and made music. 🙂
RR: What about future plans? We’re guessing the EP is just the beginning!
ST: I’ve had lots of time to write in studio, so I’ll have plenty of music coming out next year!
RR: Any message to your fans?
ST: Stay sleepy.
