Today I’d like to share with you a few of my favorites from Slim Thugz, a duo out of Colorado that I feel has not been getting nearly enough love. The collab, consisting of Frequent C & The Candyman, released their debut EP Living Dreams back in March. I highly recommend downloading the whole thing, its dank. They combine various hip-hop, dub, glitch, funk, and chill elements to create a unique identity they refer to as “jazzstep.”
Balance, off the aforementioned Living Dreams EP, starts with a great crescendo-ing intro building into a truly OG groove:
And here’s my favorite remix of theirs, to Lil Wayne/Birdman’s Stuntin Like My Daddy. Got a great feel to it, yet it isn’t too “busy” like a lotta EDM hip-hop remixes these days:
