Deep in the heart of Alabama lies the biggest city in the state, Birmingham. On the outskirts of Birmingham, a large water tower with Sloss written in bold black letters marks a historic landmark. The iron furnace that produced iron for over 90 years in “The Magic City” has given the biggest small town in America the basis of industry that keeps the city trucking.
July will mark the third annual Sloss Music and Arts Festival which calls Sloss Furnace home. The venue over the past ten years has been hosted multiple concerts, food festivals, and the haunted attraction Sloss Fright Furnace. The music festival is currently the biggest event, and with its interesting layout and haunted background makes it the ideal spot.
The past two years of Sloss Music and Arts Festival have included large acts such as Modest Mouse, The Avett Brothers, Purity Ring, Ben Harper, Glass Animals, and Death Cab For Cutie. 2017 will be no exception to the well rounded, unique, and edgy line-up. The bill includes some heavy hitting jam bands like Widespread Panic and Spoon. Odesza and Cashmere Cat will be the highlights of the EDM genre, and Run the Jewels, Vince Staples, and Waka Flaka Flame will round out the Rap and Hip-Hop areas.
Combining the unique culture of Birmingham with the distinct line-up of 2017 will make Sloss Music and Arts Festival and event you will not want to miss.
