Kevin Chapman, better known as SNBRN is one of those artists where you just never know what you’re going to get. Deep house, tropical house, tech house, ranging from great originals and groovy remixes to the likes of Marvin Gaye and Ace of Base. He’s touching into those same sounds, but diversifying within the realm to bring something a little different with his lead track “Lovin’ Me” on the U Want It EP.
“Lovin’ Me” brings a darker, grittier and faster feel to a usually upbeat and sunshine basked track that SNBRN regularly puts out. The track puts forth some vibrant melodies and chord progressions, while keeping an almost industrial feel in the deep underlying synths. The track puts us in a dimly lit happy place, right where we want to be.
U Want It features two other tracks, “Want It” and “Six Shooter” which both bring a different and welcomed sound from SNBRN. “Want It” shouts deep house, but has a few surprises along the way to make the track more interesting, like a little violin in the background, and even a phone ringing. “Six Shooter” as it’s name declares, has an old western theme to it. With a “Wild Wild West” sample added, and a twangy guitar breakdown that drops into a deep melody, we’re just waiting for this track to be featured on an upcoming season of Westworld.
