After 22 years of delivering memorable music and community experiences, the team behind the Summer Camp Music Festival is set to introduce a new festival named Solshine: A Music and Arts Reverie in 2024. This new event is slated to debut at the same cherished location of Three Sisters Park in Chillicothe, Illinois, continuing the tradition over Memorial Day weekend from May 24-26, with an early kick-off pre-party on May 23.
Summer Camp has been a major event on the US festival circuit, growing from a modest gathering of 2,000 people in 2001 to welcoming over 25,000 attendees in 2023. Known for its broad range of music genres and interactive experiences, the festival has fostered a strong sense of community among its attendees. It has featured a host of diverse acts over the years including legends and new artists across rock, electronic, and other genres, like Tom Petty, Skrillex, and Willie Nelson.

With Solshine: A Music & Arts Reverie, the organizers are channeling the spirit and history of Summer Camp into this fresh venture. They plan to feature a wide array of musical styles, from jam bands to funk and beyond. More than just a music festival, Solshine aims to recreate the community vibe of Summer Camp with numerous workshops, food and craft vendors, and various engaging activities, emphasizing the communal ‘home away from home’ atmosphere.
Additionally, the new festival will maintain a commitment to sustainability, a core element of its predecessor. Through Solshine, the organizers intend to motivate festival-goers to adopt sustainable lifestyles and make a constructive impact on their surroundings. Highlight features of the festival will include The Illumination Woods, an area dedicated to experiential art, and the SOULPATCH garden, which will focus on permaculture and sustainable practices.
The scenic Three Sisters Park, with its natural amphitheater and beautiful settings, remains the festival’s venue, offering an ideal backdrop for this large-scale event. The festival layout supports various camping options, enhancing the community feel of the gathering. Attendees will have the opportunity to stay on-site, with all tickets including camping, and can opt for additional experiences such as VIP upgrades that provide access to special amenities like the pre-party, exclusive viewing areas, and more comfortable facilities.
As the excitement builds, potential attendees and fans are eagerly awaiting the announcement of the first lineup of artists who will grace the stages of Solshine. This festival aims to preserve the legacy of Summer Camp and to forge a new path, inviting music lovers to come together in celebration of art, music, and community life. The future of this festive tradition looks promising as it aims to blend the cherished elements of its origins with fresh, innovative experiences.
