Soulular – Awake (Free 7-Song Mellow EP)

West coast bass producer Soulular of Gravitas Recordings brings us the mystical sounds of a deep sub bass and downtempo EP, entitled “Awake”. Every song contains a good, positive vibe, while incorporating a very spiritual and emotional aspect to the overall sound. This leads to an EP that is filled with deep, downtempo electronica.

Each track is very different, however all resonate with a similar use of synths and drums. The two work in unison, neither overpowering the other. Distorted, nicely placed sampling adds an interesting element to multiple tracks as well. It has really unique and lovely melodies, with perfect chord progressions that really give it a spacey, yet earthy feel.

“I Am” is a future bass jam that incorporates very deep sub bass underneath distorted synths. The sampling really adds a nice element to this as well, with whispers contrasted with loud woman. It even features a wobble towards the end.

“Goddess” is another future bass track thats very downtempo. A beautiful use of sub bass, synths and high synth keys lead to a unique and mystifying song. The trance-like vocals adds a lot of emotion, culminating in what I would describe “spiritually electronic”. Think along the lines of Shpongle, but more futuristic and technologically driven.
