Speaker Honey’s Together All Night EP conveys a special dark mysteriousness to it that is rich and refreshing. In a saturated-dance music culture where dark-themes are becoming more commonplace, Speaker Honey finds a way to bring back this setting across a well-correlated 2-track (1 radio edit) experience, the pairing of songs cast a unique emotional message that’s hard to come by.
In the EP, the song stands on it’s own with distinctive qualities, yet is able to maintain familiar sonic cues that give it a uniform identity. The balance evoked here only enhances the mau5trap-signed journey that Speaker Honey has brought to life.
Kicking off, VVVIRTU joins in on the fun with, “We Belong Together,” for a techno-inspired ride boasting full basslines and a metaphysical vocal atmosphere. The experience drives confidence in the listener with the power of the beat, yet cools off the steam when the pure-feeling vocals come in and rain down. The two parts deliver an aura that’s distinct, unfamiliar, and desirable.
“All Night,” flexes the production chops of the solo electronic artist in full force, trippy vocal samples and a trance-inspired rhythm in the synth-pads all line up to give a sense of a club-friendly groove.
Speaker Honey uses her multi-faceted talents to full advantage, having developed a music skill set which includes proficiency on multiple instruments as well as DAWs, the hard work has gotten her noticed. She debuted on mau5trap in 2019 with Night Visions EP and the label clearly hasn’t had enough. Now she’s back with a well-woven fantasy oriented EP, using the template of house to get her stylistic creativity out there.
