Stepping up to the plate to create an infectious Balance Series mix is Detroit techno artist, Stacey Pullen, whose decorated career spans from the early to mid 90’s. With his unique craft fusion of house and techno, he has spent more than two decades touring the world; from cavernous intimate spaces to massive festival graces.
“My approach for my Balance mix was to compile music that I don’t get a chance to play when I’m on the road, but that’s still good music. I also wanted to give the listener a breath of fresh air and play some eclectic melodic tunes, because I love a good melody.”
Pullen’s double-disc Balance Series mix is a multi-faceted masterpiece that cycles through the high’s and low’s in a non-linear format. The mix begins on a darker note, with Marc Ashken’s remix of rEJEKTS “Strung Out In Reno,” bringing in a lot of industrial and dramatic devices to the formula. Eventually Pullen’s mix sweeps into smooth piano riffs through tunes like E-Dancer’s “Foundation,” then slightly throwback tech sounds from the 90’s; finally powering through with funky, energetic grooves towards the end.
