Once again the electronic community has been struck with tragedy, as Saturday night’s STS9 concert in Asheville, NC was cut short due to multiple overdoses.
Asheville police, venue officials and concert promoters agreed to end the show early after seven people were rushed to the hospital. Reports from the local Fox affiliate claim that several officers were assaulted while trying to help the victims. As a result, at least a dozen additional officers were dispatched to quell the unruly crowd.
Four people were arrested for crimes ranging from possession to disorderly conduct. Several attendees took to social media claiming to have seen fellow concertgoers ingesting bad drugs and consequently convulsing. Police are investigating the type of drugs distributed.
As of Sunday morning, two of the hospitalized attendees remained in critical condition.
