Attention east coast ravers, you’re going to want to add 734 FIRST ST SW, Washington, District of Columbia 20024 to you list of must visit destinations. Why? because this graffiti covered church turned concert hall is one of the most interesting and exciting pieces of art that you’ll ever rave inside of. WhiteRaverRafting is hoping that their will be many more parties thrown at this epic location.
History of the venue
“The venue was designed and built in the early 1900s by James A. Boyce at the site of the old Friendship Baptist Church; it was designated as a D.C. historic site in 2004. For over 20 years, after the congregation found a new home one block over, the venue remained vacant. In 2013, Art Whino Gallery commissioned Atlanta based artist HENSE to produce a full building mural wrap around the entire perimeter of the venue; truly a one of a kind visual! Additionally, they produced a full mural wrap on the inside performance area; curated by Australian based artist House of Meggs. Blind whino is surely one of the most exciting venues in the district of columbia, if not the entire country.”
Update: WhiteRaverRafting checked out this insane venue and took some pictures:
