Lately we have been getting indie submissions in the inbox and I’ve been impressed with quite a few. Sometimes it can be like throwing darts at the computer when it comes to quality so it’s refreshing to be able to confidently curate these tracks for you all. The floor is open for feedback and constructive criticism.
The first two result from the Zedd Spectrum remix contest which was held last month. Naturally, quite a few recognized producers weighed in with their takes at the powerhouse original. Check out our recent Spectrum remixes post for a few bangers from the heavy hitters.
This remix is done by a Richmond native by the name of RudeeBeatz. Take it from me when I say this kid is the probably the most talented producer in RVa, which is clearly evident through his live sets. RudeeBeatz runs the table without pre-meditating any tracks – it’s all done real time and he knows how to keep the dance floor continuously moving. Promoters take note, Caylon is a prodigal talent with live set intangibles.
Next Spectrum remix is from RYKR who indulged me with his description of the remix before I even heard it. I’ll let him explain:
This is a magnum opus of sorts, moving through at least five different styles and 3 different tempos (128, 110 and 140). I completely re-harmonized the entire track and each section has it’s own unique style and chord progression. It’s sort of my ‘Paranoid Android’ of remixes, and I feel that it is noteworthy.
First original was sent to me from my friend Matt over at TheFreshSelection.com and is done by Sharkf3ng. I worked with him as this track developed, offering my feedback as it progressed through production. Needles to say it mastered into a beautiful prog house / electro blend of sound.
Final cut is this original mix from a duo of high school juniors from Richmond. Austin Zajur and Nick Morrison unite under the name Mammals. These kids are noteworthy for packing the house as openers for names like Flux Pavilion, Figure, Rusko, and more. Couple teenagers making great music and setting dance floors off before 10pm – undoubtedly reigning over the jocks as the coolest kids in school. Drumstep anyone?
