It has been reported by the Toronto Star that 29 people were taken to the hospital during Saturday’s all-ages Avicii concert in Toronto due to illnesses related to drugs or alcohol. The number of reported cases was so excessive that on-site medics were forced to call EMS for assistance.
Few specifics have been released concerning the incidences, but Toronto Duty Officer George Eliadis did admit his disbelief at the unusually high number of medical emergencies.
“That number is unusually high,” he said. “It’s not typical for that many people to require hospitalization at that kind of concert.”
According to reports, the majority of illnesses were related to over consumption of alcohol, but at least one person was also treated for drug use. One attendee was arrested.
