This past weekend, Kaskade’s Sun Soaked event brought a sold out crowd of over 32,000 fans to their dancing feet in the sands of Long Beach, California. This mini festival doubled it’s size in both attendees and space from it’s inaugural event that took place last year.
The event was filled with plenty of shade, free Rockstar, and totems all throughout the crowd. There was even a water cannon on stage that the artists’ would spray into the crowd to keep the fans cool in the blistering heat.
This year’s massive show had a stacked line-up of supporting acts that killed the stage before the grammy nominated producer went on to perform an unforgettable headlining set. Mr. Tape and Lokii, who are both from Kaskade’s record label, Arkade, kicked off the show with banging sets that brought the early crowd in. After a fun set from Lokii came a groundbreaking performance, filled with deep synths and thumping bass, from up and coming producer, J. Worra. I would definitely keep my eyes out on her.
Next, Kaskade took to the stage for an early all vinyl performance that was reminiscent to his Redux sets. He also got on the water cannon and sprayed everyone in the crowd right before Late Night Alumni started performing. Cazzette and Felix Cartal also delivered 1 hour long sets before the man of the hour got on stage. Each performer got on right after the last and there was never any lag time.
Lastly, Kaskade returned to the stage at exactly 8:00PM and played a beautiful 2 hour set packed with amazing visuals and bright fireworks. The crowd was filled with totems, floaties, and fans on shoulders as everyone sang all the classics in unison. The two hour set featured a wide selection from Kaskade’s diverse discography, delivering tons of mash-ups and classics all mixed together. Classics such as “Raining”, “I Remember”, “Atmosphere”, and so much more were played throughout the set. Kaskade closed his set with “Disarm You” accompanied by tons of fireworks flying up in the sky. It was truly a beautiful moment.
Overall, the whole event seemed very well organized. Although it was very hot during the day, there were plenty of areas for shade, water stations all around, free Rockstars, and plenty of aid walking around to help the crowd. Each performer got on stage at their listed set times and they all delivered amazingly fun sets. The crowd was filled with happiness and loving vibes. We hope that Sun Soaked will return every year as an annual event in Long Beach.
