After 3 singles teased, the full EP is here. Vessels is a colorful work that has been a long time coming for solo artist Super Duper. The EP explores the spaces between new-wave, indie-pop, and electronic. The result is uplifting and angelic to say the least, with singles like “Open Eyes” and “Canon” scooping you up in a cloud of comfortable bliss, the vocals mainlining in like an IV. Super Duper seems to like the focus being solely on the music while his personal background takes a backseat for the time being. Yet with over 500,000 monthly listeners on Spotify, a past debut album, and several hit singles under his belt, fans are curious now more than ever to get their hands on more from him. SP shared this quote in relation to the new EP:
“The Vessels EP is my creative journey into pushing the limits of my sound with lots of experimentation. I set out to create an album that had more depth in emotion and tempo than my previous releases. I wanted it to ebb and flow and not just be high energy every second. It’s also hinting towards the future direction I’m going for, while also keeping in line with the VHS EP’s sounds. Those nostalgic 80s and 90s elements will always be a part of my writing but I wanted to keep creating new ways to make those sounds modern and inspiring. I’m striving to keep my sound unique and identifiable but I want to make sure I’m always pushing towards something new because that is the most exciting part of music for me.” – Super Duper
