Not only did Apple radically change the market for record labels and artists, but the fundamental composition, promotion and sales of the music album as well. Before you would line up at your local music store to pick up a new release for the two or three songs you heard on the radio. Now you rip the track from a youtube video and then buy it later on iTunes for 99 cents.
Record Labels and the concept of the album need to evolve to meet the demands of the market in order to stay relevant. Swedish House Mafia’s second compilation album Until Now is not all original music. It’s more of a collective of their own productions, individual works and the biggest tracks in dance music. Yet, it’s powerful in a way that no others can compare to.

Detractors will complain that the final album took no talent and that the tour are money grabs – nothing more. It’s easy to make such statements, but if it is that simple I recommend you go out and do it. While the groups stands to make a significant amount of money, it’s nothing compared to the sum they are turning down by ending SHM. However, It would be nice to see them add a charitable aspect to the tour like Avicii’s House for Hunger.
Until Now is available for purchase through iTunes with the standard version including 10-tracks while the deluxe version includes 23. The deluxe version is recommended, don’t short yourself the full experience.
