Got a Jeffrey today, the newest addition Mad Decent sub-label series. Swizzymack lays down “BASS”: a three-track EP that packs trap, jungle and moombahton influences together creating an undefinable unification. What first catches you off guard is the strange set of events happening in the album art, Scuba Porn? I’m not sure but its bizarrely cool to look at, good color scheme too.
Each track in a “BASS” is an onamonapia. The first track entitled, “Bass” is laid back, easy to follow, trap track. Also, creative, repetitive (in a good way), and sampled hip-hop lyrics. Track two: “Bouncin” is what you’d expect, a New Orleans bounce influenced tune mixed with trap percussion. Finally, “Drip” uses a series of electro-aquatic effects that flood the ears; focusing on ambient sound and commendable timing.
