Taiki Nulight has been one of our favorite up and coming producers from 2017, with releasing killer tracks like “I Mean“ and his AC Slater collab “Psycho” that sunk their teeth into listeners. His last EP Dead End really showcased his solo mixing skills and his very unique production style, bringing him to the spotlight amongst other supporting tastemakers like AC Slater and Chris Lorzeno. Over the last few months, Taiki Nulight has been touring the globe, throwing down killer sets at festivals like Middlelands and Electric Forest, to keeping himself in the top 10 of Beatport with each new single, to heavy hitters like Chris Lake throwing out his tracks in their mixes.
The Brighton based producer has come back into 2018 strong with his sophmore Night Bass Records EP four tracker Broken Ribs. He turns his sound inside out, flexing his innovative production muscles throughout. The title track “Broken Ribs” takes on a creepy tone, with an ominous voiceover hungry for broken ribs. The wonky synths and bouncing bass give the track it’s off kilter rhythm that keeps us on our toes. The track has an overall evil aesthetic that still holds true to Taiki’s ability to have fun with it. “U Know” and “Cynic” switch it up with some interstellar vibes. “U Know” starts with whispering four to the floor high hat leading up to out of this world sirens while “Cynic” has a warping, grooving bass and reverberating sci-fi effects. The last track “Floor Burner” perfectly rounds off the EP and is our top favorite out of the new collection. We kick off with a punching bassline building into a high energy, shuffle-inspiring drop. It’ll be hard for fans not to want to shut the club down with this fiery track.
