Washington D.C. experienced a Parisian invasion last Saturday when Frenchmen Tchami & DJ Snake took over Echostage. Prior to their performances, local artist DJ Seba Yuri warmed up the crowd with an eclectic selection of tech house tunes.
Once the clock struck midnight, Tchami took full control of the decks. He set the night off with an energetic deep house set, which was perhaps unprecedented for DC’s largest dance music venue.
Top moments included when he played Storm Queens’ “Look Right Through” (MK Remix) and his own remixes of Mercer’s “Turn it up” and Oliver $ & Jimi Jules’ “Pushing On”.
After Tchami completed his masterful set, DJ Snake made an entrance of epic proportions. The lights cut off and the lyrics to P. Diddy’s “Let’s Get Ill” were heard throughout the building.
The introductory build up transitioned into DJ Snake’s “Lunatic”, at which point the turn-up levels reached maximum capacity. The Paris native continuously elevated the energy throughout the night as he dropped hits such as “Bird Machine”, “Slow Down”, and of course “Turn Down For What”. Echostage’s newly installed LED panels above the right and left bars enhanced the already magnificent visual experience.
In a slightly predictable move — DJ Snake paused the music in the middle of his set and instructed the crowd to get low, as he proceeded to drop his trap-moombah banger, “Get Low”.
Following DJ Snake’s exit, Baltimore’s Racecarbed took the stage and kept everyone shuffling until 4am. The variety of musical talent presented truly made it a memorable night for all dance music enthusiasts in attendance.
