Episode 18 of TTO serves as a testament to how far the techno genre can stretch. As we’ve mentioned previously, techno is an umbrella term for a broad spectrum of sounds; from gritty tech house to simplistic minimal, indie tech to old school. There are a variety of sounds and samples producers can use to put their own spin on the genre, and we love hearing each different take! This week’s show will ride the wave from dark synth-led tunes to beautiful piano melodies with only the slightest hint of techno.
1. Michael Klein – Drawing
Are you ready for some posh German techno? Michael Klein opens this week’s TTO with the title track release off his new Dancing EP. “Drawing” is a very minimal song with a unique emphasis on the snare/hi-hats. We absolutely LOVE this one!

2. Sian – Shame Cube (Victor Calderone Remix)
We’re skipping the formalities by going all in with this next tune. Victor Calderone’s remix of Sian’s “Shame Cube” is a delightfully dark masterpiece. The shadowy synths snap with elasticity, while atmospheric sounds plague your mind like those mysterious bumps in the night…

3. Adam Beyer – Time Flies
No TTO would ever be truly complete without the masterful workings of Swedish producer, Adam Beyer. “Time Flies” is another magnetic release off Truesoul. It’s a highly eclectic tune with energetic drums, a groovy bassline, crisp claps and throwback vocal samples. Although there is a Beyer flare that we all know and love present in this song, it is expressed through a much lighter, discotheque tone.

4. Andhim – Boy Boy Boy (Joris Voorn Remix)
Joris Voorn’s remix of “Boy Boy Boy” emits some pleasantly retro vibes. To explain it simply, it’s a bit of deep house meets indie techno. We really appreciate the old school techno claps accompanied by wavy synths and a really fun melody, and we highly recommend giving this positive tune a listen!

5. Pan-Pot & Oliver Laib – Für Josepina
“Für Josepina” by Pan-Pot and Oliver Laib have the inner workings of a techno track, but is overlapped by a powerful piano melody that instantly transforms it into a soulful work of art. If you’re into classical music or strong piano melodies, you’re going to be absolutely blown away by this riveting masterpiece. We highly recommend listening to this last tune to lift your spirits!
