The Chemical Brothers are one of the few pioneers of the big beat manifesto who have brought English electronic music into the pop culture stream. Hailing from Manchester, the legendary duo consisting of Tom Rowlands and Ed Simons, have been creating the musical elixir of life since the early 1990’s. The Chemical Brothers are returning to London’s Printworks for Issue 002 and for the new venue’s first event to pass into the next day after being confirmed by Bugged Out! on the 2nd of December.
The Chemical Brothers have a special place in every British music lover’s heart because of the iconic beats and transcendent lyrics are truly one of a kind and those that will be celebrated and remembered for decades to come. Merging techno and house with hip-hop inspirations, The Chemical Brothers released their debut album Exit Planet Dust in 1995 alluding to their name change from The Dust Brothers that featured ‘Alive Alone’ with vocals from Beth Orton. This soon saw the duo being signed to Virgin Records and began their road to enlightenment.
Performing with The Prodigy and Noel Gallagher, The Chemical Brothers were luminaries in their field and they even gained them a Grammy Award. 1999 was the year things got good and house-ier with the release of their most well-known track ‘Hey Boy, Hey Girl’ inspired by a night out at Sheffield’s Gatecrasher that reached number 3 in the UK charts. The next stage of their career was defined by the release of Push the Button in 2004 that saw ‘Galanize’ and title track ‘Push the Button’ chart.
Another highlight was 10 years ago when The Chemical Brothers played a live gig in London’s Trafalgar Square as part of the Becks Fusions event and 3D glasses were handed out to view on-screen visual effects. Three years later, they released their seventh studio album Further with BBC Music saying that “synths are brutally manhandled and pushed to their limits across their eight tracks.’ The Chemical Brothers also recorded scores for Hanna , Black Swan, Now You See Me and The Hunger Games .
Most recently at the end of 2016, The Chemical Brothers released a new single ‘C-H-E-M-I-C-A-L’ and we are yet to see what the duo have to offer this year in the run up to their 8 hour set at Printworks in London.
