The idea of delayed gratification is often missing in the modern era of electronic music, but The Geek x VRV are bringing it back – holiday style. To introduce the world to their “Advent Calendar” EP, the duo followed the strategy of the album’s namesake by releasing a new track every day from December 8 leading up until December 25 – Christmas Day. This version of an advent calendar doesn’t come with chocolate or cheesy ornaments – instead, you’ll find 17 fresh cut tracks that will redefine all of your ideas of holiday cheer. The EP is packed with the group’s signature style of jazzy melodies, bumping hip-hop beats and scratched up vocal cuts and samples, but standout tracks include day two’s track, “Play,” a remix of Jadakiss’ “Why,” and a reworked live edit of “Fat Like Joe.”
The EP’s opening two tracks are both available for free download below, and with two more songs to be released until December 25 – we don’t want this Christmas season to end.
