The Human Experience and Rising Appalachia may be two names your not very familiar with. However, these two musicians will certainly leave a lasting impression on you after listening to their new album, “Soul Visions”. Blending genres effortlessly, the 7-song album takes you on a journey through musical deserts, jungles and cities. The tracks remind me much of Beats Antique for their use of banjos and vocal melody to give off a very worldly vibe.
“Rising Appalachia and The Human Experience met many years ago on the shores of southern India. After spearheading each of their own unique musical paths, they have joined forces to birth a soulful new electro/acoustic collaboration, merging sounds from around the world in an elaborate artistic love-child of beats, voice, banjo and bass. “Soul Visions” is their first step in the long journey of bringing together electronic music and soul, folk and ballads, bass rhythms and swamp-womp in an effort to bridge worlds through aural exploration.” – The Human Experience Bandcamp page
The way The Human Experience and Rising Appalachia blend subtle electronic bass and sampling with traditional instruments is beautiful. Nothing feels like its overpowering the other; instead, each compliment the other. The tracks have a slight middle-eastern vibe with their use of banjos but the vocals bring you back to a very homely place with a bit of a southern draw. The culmination of this leads to an album that is huge breath of fresh air in a time when mechanized synths and heavy drops are king. Listen to the entire EP below and download for free via Bandcamp.
