The Prodigy had taken a haitus over the past three years, with their last album, The Day is My Enemy, a 35-tracker masterpiece released back in March of 2015. Of course, our love for the Essex-based group has never faded and we are super excited for what is to come in 2018. They have just released their first single of the year, “Need Some1,” and have also announced that an upcoming LP, No Tourists, will be gracing our ears later this year.
“Need Some1” is a fast paced, out-the-box track that has layers of raw emotion, aggression, and an overall sense of untethered energy. It packs one hell of a ride, with raging guitar, power vocals, and that trademark Prodigy driving synth. “Need Some1” is the ultimate palette cleanser while also being an epic throwback for all those 90’s ravers out there. To accompany the new single, they also shot a music video in the winding streets of Manila, Phillipines. It’s a disorientating, yet seductive ride through the dark maze of the city. They throw us into a surreal underground perspective of life, with a ragtag group looking to rage, drink, fight, and play out their souls for nobody but themselves leading the way. Both the music video and track totally encompass what their goal is for the new album set to drop later this year.
The band had this to say about No Tourists:
“To us, No Tourists is ultimately about escapism and the want and need to be derailed. Don’t be a tourist – there is always more danger and excitement to be found if you stray from the set path.
You can listen to “Need Some1” on Spotify and catch the music video on YouTube now. Be sure to be on the lookout for No Tourists later this year, we know we will be.
