Once married on a chipper Nashville day in 2018, fate began to play a role in what would be a one-of-a-kind electronic duo that stands out among the rest. The Two Fake Blondes, a couple act made up of Petey and Hannah Mac, have had a busy first half of 2021, releasing 2 singles that gained healthy support and helped bring definition to where their creative direction was this year. Now in the 2nd half of the year, they’re outdoing themselves like never before, debuting their first ever studio album they are titling Out Of The Darkness.
The album leaves a bit of something for everyone, each track having qualities that allow it to stand out on it’s own. With that said, there’s certainly an arc across the songs – brought through familiar melodies and common samples dotted throughout – that give the release that ‘album,’ flow. In other words, it certainly does not feel like a bunch of random singles stuck together, but an experience with ordered fluidity to it.
My personal favorites include “Blue Skies, and “Battle Cry,” both boasting charming house vibes, uplifting atmospheres, and toplines that find a warmth within one’s heart.
The Two Fake Blondes clearly aren’t afraid to be ambitious, Out Of The Darkness showcases this exactly and then some.
