What started out as a way to get in to festivals free, has turned into a movement and a way of life. The Festival Guy’s story is like a dream come true to most festheads and we’re here to tell you his story and how you can help all of us #FestivalBetter with his innovative apps.
When “The Festival Guy” was first getting going, he started heading to festivals in an attempt to find like-minded people in a world that was unknown. He would attend small shows and large festivals like Coachella and Shambhala where he quickly fell in love. He decided to sell spirit hoods to pay his way to his favorite fests.
An idea quickly donned on him. Why not critique festivals in exchange for a free ticket? He immediately took to social media to find that “The Festival Guy” wasn’t taken yet, signed up for his alter-accounts, and has never looked back.
Tucker has three main concerns when dealing with a festival:
1. You need to be able to hear and see artists. This doesn’t mean just the DJs and bands. He believes that all guests should be able to see art anywhere you look whether it be live art, art installations, or DJs/bands. There needs to be jumbo-trons and large subwooffers at all large stages so you can watch and listen in a comfortable setting.
2. The festival should be easily accessible. You shouldn’t have to wade through the masses for thirty minutes to get from stage A to B. Guests should be able to stage hop without making a pilgrimage.
3. Trash, trash, and more trash. If you go to any major festival these days, there is trash EVERYWHERE. Trash needs to be one of festival’s biggest priorities. There needs to be waste management, but we as guests need to take the initiative to keep our festies clean.
He thinks that if these things get fixed, all of the other minor details will come together to make a great festival.
While traveling to over 67 festivals in 4 years, The Festival Guy had to be the ultimate festhead. He had to figure out how he was going to get from festival to festival, where his friends were going, and how to make the best experience possible. That’s when he thought of FestEvo, his brand new app that connected festheads together before, during, and after the festival. FestEvo has been around for about a year, but we were lucky enough to sit down with him where he explained FestEvo Prime and all of its great new features.
FestEvo is the next big thing in festival organization for fans
FestEvo has been blowing minds for about a year with a few key features including ride shares, meet ups, and interactive schedules. The coolest feature is that it is directly connected to Facebook, so posts can be seamlessly tied to your social media.
Everyone who downloads the app, get to create (or upload from Facebook) a profile with your favorite festivals, artists, and camps. You can see which of your friends are attending your favorite fests, who is listening to the same artists, and figure out where your friends are camping. You can send personal messages to your (soon-to-be) friends who are using the app to get better connected with them before, during, and after the festival.
What’s next for FestEvo?
FestEvo is unveiling a new version of their amazing app with a few extra additions that we are super excited for called FestEvo Prime. Not only will you be able to access FestEvo the way you have before, the new update has undergone an aesthetic facelift; a direct connection to SoundCloud, Spotify, and all social media networks. All in all a faster, smarter interface.
FestEvo Light
Ever notice how most festival apps are pretty basic? You’re lucky if they even update their schedule and artist line-up from the previous year. It is hard to find information about the festival, and even if you do, you can’t connect with anyone. FestEvo Light will be a unique app designed specifically for a festival.
In early 2015, FestEvo Light has been integrated into six festivals to provide a more connected and immersed festival app. The cool features FestEvo Light provides includes listening to artists, known or unknown, based off of your preferences. It will also feature a fully connected schedule based on where you are and when they will be performing, rather than having an entire day’s schedule for you to narrow down to. Light will help you find like-minded people that are at that same stage that you are to hang out with. Who doesn’t love finding new friends based on similar artist interest? A list of cooperating festivals will be available soon.
Playlists
It happens to no avail. Every time a lineup comes up, blogs and individuals rush to curate a playlist to meet the needs of their audiences. Sometimes you’ll love every song on the playlist, but other times you think the playlist sucks and doesn’t even share your similar type of music. The FestEvo playlist feature will help you discover new and existing artists based on who you already like through Spotify. You can make your own playlist, discover your friends’, or trust that FestEvo knows what songs will be right for you. Once your playlist is made, you can email yourself a custom schedule based on whose music you love the most.
Find a Friend
It doesn’t matter if you are going to a festival solo or have a huge family, it is always great to meet new people. With the new update comes an easier way to find people and stay connected. The app helps fellow fest heads find ride shares to and from the event in a safe way. You can connect with your Facebook friends to see who is attending and connect with them via the app. You can share playlists and rank artists which will tell you who is your most compatible festival buddy based on your likes. You will be able to connect with them after the festival by friending them with the app.
We are so excited to unveil the new features of the FestEvo Prime. This app is going to make festivals easier to plan, access, and attend. It will help us all feel more connected like a festival family should be. If you already use FestEvo, you are in for a treat with these new features and updated interface. Make sure you download the app to start #FestingBetter.
