Welcome to another week of Throwback Thursday! Last week we covered the ear warming Gina Star remix of Tiesto & Mark Knight’s ‘Beautiful World’. This week we’ll be featuring a remix by Kid Coconut aka Michael Brun. The Haitian born musician gained notoriety in 2011 with his unique sound that blends elements of electronic and Haitian styles such as Kompa and Rara. Since then, Kid Coconut has released a plethora of remixes, singles, and his first album “Lokal” that was released only a few months ago.
Today, we’ll be throwing it back to Brun’s 2013 remix of Calvin Harris’, ‘Thinking About You’. The coconut mix is one off a package of remixes from artists like Laidback Luke, EDX, Firebeatz, GTA, and Jesse Rose. As if we couldn’t love Brun enough already, his remix transports us into a world of high-energy synths with an all too familiar kick drum that gives the track its progressive flair.
