Let us start off this article by saying, welcome to the first ever episode of Throwback Thursday. During this series we will be highlighting some throwback tracks from the era of 2010-2013. So it’s not a “crazy” throwback series, but it’s instead the electronic music that many of us initially started listening to.
The series is also not genre specific, however most of the delicious tunes will likely cater to the house, progressive/electro house, and trance tracks that were large during this time frame. It’s our hope that this series can fulfill you with a sense of nostalgia and hopefully provide you with some goosebumps. Every Thursday we’ll be highlighting one standout tune to be our throwback track of the week. Without further ado, let’s dive into week one!
The inaugural track to be featured in this series is very special because it’s the one that inspired the idea for a throwback series. It’s the one that provided the sense of nostalgia and goosebumps that eventually blossomed into an idea. “Tomorrow Changed Today” was released by Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike in 2012 as the official song of Tomorrowland 2012. Weirdly enough, searching for the song on Spotify and Soundcloud turned up no results. Only a few obscure Youtube videos actually provided us with the instrumental to the track. The Belgium born brothers would go on to release a vocal version for the song, however we feel the instrumental does it a little more justice. Give it a listen below to reminisce for a moment.
The progressive house anthem that is Tomorrow Changed Today reminds us of a long lost era of progressive house music. It’s a fitting track for a Tomorrowland 2012 anthem considering the influence progressive house had on the electronic scene during that time. It may be a long lost track, but it’s certainly not a forgotten one. Episode two will be kicking off next week for another trip down memory lane.
