With New Years Eve right around the corner, it’s just about time to plan for that special event to ring in 2015. Many of the top shows will be held in Las Vegas, New York, or Miami; but for the Bassheads, the ultimate destination is Nashville, Tennessee.
Bassnectar is bringing in his fourth installment of 360 New Years Eve at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena, and tickets have sold out faster than ever. Unfortunately this means scalpers are aware of its popularity, and tickets are re-selling for extraordinarily high prices. Below is a screenshot of the highest priced floor tickets as of the date of this article:
No need to rub your eyes in disbelief — tickets that were originally $74 are actually selling for as much as $12,000. To put it in perspective, a listing of $1100 is a 1400% increase, which essentially means receiving one ticket for the price of fourteen.
During this period of the “EDM Boom”, ticket scalping has become a growing problem. Last year, Bassnectar had a blog post about successful scalping prevention, but it looks like for this years 360 NYE, the scalping was out of his hands. Artists are aware and try to fight against it, but at certain times it’s beyond their control.
Earlier this year, Kaskade went as far as sneaking up on a scalper to let him know it wasn’t right.
Knowing the outspoken Bassnectar, it’s only a matter of time before he voices his opinion and assists a deserving fan in need once again.
