This year, Tomorrowland’s Amicorum Spectaculum will host more than 1,000 artists from a range of different genres of electronic music for two weekends in July in the Belgian town of Boom. With over 17 stages and a total of 360,000 people expected to attend, this year’s festival is not one to miss.
Carl Cox takes over the Mainstage with a 3 hour set on the first day, kicking off the event on the 21st of July and will be followed by the likes of Tiësto, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Martin Garrix, Axwell ^ Ingrosso, David Guetta, Paul Kalkbrenner, DJ Snake and many more. Each day, the Tomorrowland mainstage will open with the original Daybreak Sessions. Carl Cox celebrated his 50th birthday at Tomorrowland in 2012 and this year, he will turn 55 on the 29th of July.
Belgian artists will be represented in the form of drum and bass producer Netsky and dance DJ Lost Frequencies, both will perform on the MainStage and also host their own stages at Amicorum Spectaculum. Tomorrowland will also see Belgian label Bonzai celebrate its 25th birthday this year and France’s Hungry Music and Belgium’s Charlotte de Witte will get their own stage too. Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike will bring some upcoming talent to their ‘Generation Smash’ stage, alongside Henri PFR’s first showcase on the Mainstage.
Armin van Buuren will be announcing a unique collaboration soon and after his viral 2013 performance, when he played after just becoming a father, Armin will appear on A State of Trance this year. Caig David will present TS5, Felix Jaehn (known for his remix of ‘Cheerleader’) and Oscar & The Wolf are utterly original and will underscore the diversity of the Tomorrowland programme.
Last year, Deadmau5 was joined by Eric Prydz, who will be ending the festival this time around. On 30 July, you’ll find this influential producer at PRYDA. Tiësto has just released a new track called “BOOM” which, according to his management, is a reference to the town of Boom. Dave Clarke will also host his own stage.
David Guetta, Martin Solveig, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Yves V, Yves Deruyter have also managed not to skip a single Tomorrowland. David Guetta got his start in the Versuz tent and for a few years now, he’s been a favourite of the festival crowd on the Mainstage. Tomorrowland is also known for it’s B2B sets and where new collaborations are made as DJs step out of their comfort zone. Afrojack played the Tomorrowland Breakday Sessions under his own name, “Nick van de Wal”. This year, the artists Cirez D, Mescal Kid, NWYR, Gouryella, Dakota are on the programme. Each one is an alias for a well-known DJ who wants to try making a different sound from what the audience has come to expect.
Various DJ couples will be joining forces behind the decks. Last year, Adam Beyer played B2B with his wife Ida Engberg. This year, Niels Feijen will be playing side by side with LYA, and VISION MACHINE with his zin NATASJA. The Dutch DJ Unders will be accompanied by his partner Britta from Berlin.
Tastes of the World will bring together all the flavours of the world at Tomorrowland. Not only do the festival guests and the food selection at Tomorrowland promise a lively, international mix, but onstage as well you’ll find artists from all over the world, such as Blade & Beard who left Iran to follow their passion: music, and Krewella, two sisters with Pakistani roots.
