CounterPoint withdrawal has been a serious epidemic hitting the social media airwaves this week as everyone has unleashed their pictures and stories from their favorite moments of CounterPoint Music Festival held this past weekend in Kingston Downs, GA. An unforgettable event filled with new experiences and ground-breaking musical performances, has left festival-goers with an insatiable need to relive every moment of that incredible time.
These are our 10 favorite moments from CounterPoint Music Festival, feel free to revel in the nostalgia with us as we give thanks to everyone over at MCP Presents for once again putting on such a flawless event.
1) GRiZ Making an Appearance At the Floozies
When GRiZ surprised everyone by popping out at The Floozies, no one could predict what was going to come next. He laid down one of the funkiest sax freestyle solos in the history of electronic music. Anyone who attended this set will say it was a moment they won’t ever forget.
2) Glitter and Bubbles when Above & Beyond played “Sun and Moon”
3) Outkast dropping “Kryptonite” in their Hometown
“You can find me in the AAAAAAAA” could be heard from miles ’round when Outkast dropped this gem in their hometown. #ATLHOE
4) The Sky High 300 ft Totem
This year, festival-goers got very creative with their totems. Huge shoutout to whoever put the two massive balloons on their Rick Ross totem. No matter where you were Friday night, you definitely got a glimpse of the 300-400 ft. high totem rockin’ it out.
5) Fireworks for Pretty Lights the First Night of CP
An epic moment in time, right after Pretty Lights introduced his band (which included Borahm Lee and Adam Deitch from Break Science), Derek Vincent Smith closed out one of his most groundbreaking performances and the first night of Counterpoint with a full fireworks display. Perfectly setting the mood for the beautiful weekend that was ahead.
6) BLVisuals Colorize their Fans
BL Visuals was helping people express their creative side with a body painting (or shall we say dipping) station set up in their booth. It was incredible to see so many people colored with the amazing BL visuals designs. Like their style? You can also check them out at Electric Forest, or pick up some merch online.
7) GRiZ and Minnesota Surprise Fans with a B2B Set at Silent Disco
Even though Minnesota’s daytime set got cancelled Sunday due to the rain, he was still able to take the stage at Silent Disco where he and GRiZ played b2b. Add in Michal Menert, and the night is set. Needless to say, it got wild.. yet silent.
8) Kill Paris Takes it Back with “Bill Nye the Science Guy” Remix
After shouting “who remembers Bill Nye the Science Guy?”, Kill Paris proceeded to bring some weird funky science to the second day and fans loved it. He took it back to the old school in all the right ways.
9) Flosstradamus Turns the Crowd to a Mosh Pit
10) Flux Brings Intense Energy to CounterPoint Finale
Alright you knew he was going to play it, and I’ve seen “Gold Dust” live quite a few times but never with so much hype and energy. He even gets on the mic to sing the final chorus, and it was a beautifully perfect ending to all the madness that was CounterPoint 2014.
