Everything we’ve heard from Avicii’s debut album True has me believing that it will be the biggest dance album of all time. Commercial success is about filling the needs of the market. Krewella did that. Avicii is on another level though with True being the first album that will potentially bridge the gap between house music and the mainstream. Maybe in a few months from now we’ll be calling Avicii the Dave Matthews of dance music.
In an interview with Billboard he talks about how the songs came together for the album, specifically “Wake Me Up” which you know has outsold One Direction.
Specifically this quote stood out,
The original song idea should be able to be played acoustically and still be good.
Strong fundamentals driving each individual track allowing them all to stand on their own. Avicii and his manager Ash Pournouri acknowledged this a few times in the past, so the expectations are high that they’ll deliver. And why should we doubt them? Avicii’s rise to stardom has been exponential, while Pournouri has been paramount to his success.
The album just opened up for pre-order sales through iTunes and since we live in an age where if a song is played, it’s going to get ripped and uploaded to the internet. So that means you guys can preview the whole thing now, before it’s officially released September 17, 2013. At this time Avicii’s album hasn’t leaked, but if history is any indicator of the future you can expect to see copies circulating a few weeks prior.
