Today, we wish a very happy ten year anniversary to club anthem “Miami 2 Ibiza” by Swedish House Mafia featuring Tinie Tempah.
Steve Angello, Sebastian Ingrosso, and Axwell joined forces in 2008 to form the legendary trio. As their name suggests, they are Swedish, they play house music, and their commercial success runs deep across the world. They quickly became a household name in the electro house genre, with massive tour global tours and even a few documentaries along the way. After announcing a breakup and their final tour 2013, the group made a triumphant return at Ultra Miami in 2018, five years after their last show together.
While SHM would go on to have numerous chart-topping hits like “Don’t You Worry Child”, “Miami 2 Ibiza” was an early successful release that paved their way. They give us a contagious beat that breaks with trance-like synths while British rapper Tinie Tempah brings to life lyrics that tell a story of luxury and frivolousness – and of course, we have to mention the BlackBerry Bold reference which comically dates the track now ten years later. Despite the passing years, this song still makes us feel like are dancing the night away at an Ibizan nightclub surrounded by beautiful beaches and unlimited booze…which, let’s be honest, is a welcomed escape from our current reality.
So go ahead – indulge your younger self, pop a bottle, and blast this banger in celebration of all the great times you’ve had listening to it!
