True Music Festival will be the first festival of its kind to hit Scottsdale, Arizona. This inaugural event, held on December 14, 2013 at the Salt River Fields will be your perfect getaway from winter weather to a place where the sun shines all year long. This festival will be a multi-stage, multi-genre event full of surprises and sure to be a festival to remember. The organizers are working meticulously to make sure festival-goers have the absolute time of their lives. Considering that there aren’t many festivals in Arizona, it’s great that someone is bringing the scene to this part of the country.
We were able to talk with the organizers of True Music Festival, and ask them a few questions about the event. Their excitement and passion for this event is immense, they truly are doing everything they can to make this a unique, one-of-a-kind event.
We wanted to bring something fresh to the market and provide an genuine authentic festival feel to the people of Arizona. For our inaugural year, we’re really focusing on creating an overall experience with an extremely diverse lineup. It’s important to us that our attendees go home feeling like they were part of something bigger than just the names on the bill.
We can’t give away too much, but we can say we have some big surprises in store for our attendees.
What features are you adding to make this an event that will last through the years? One of my favorite aspects about this event and a major factor in choosing Salt River for our home, was the amount of space we have to create brand new and innovative experiences within the venue year after year. We’re going to take advantage of this and really focus on creative elements to provide for the attendees. We will also focus on bringing the biggest and best possible talent to Arizona as we grow year to year. This isn’t a one time only event, we’re here to stay!
Music has grown so much recently and it seems new genres are popping up every day. We’re really trying to pay attention to what people want. It’s great to get real feedback from people via social media and use their input to make some key lineup decisions. We always want to maintain flexibility and not limit ourselves by only featuring two or three genres- allowing the attendee the ability to see the kind of music they love and maybe go check out something new and different.
With this being year one we’re really only focused on creating something that when people leave their reaction is “wow”. Putting attention on reaching a “sell out” would take our focus away from what really matters, and thats providing the festival goer something they’ll remember forever. That being said, we’re capping the event 20,000 people for the first year.
I can’t even begin to tell you how great this location felt, when we first set foot on the property and how perfect it fits what we’re doing. We’ve been working with their team for over 14 months creating this event and they’ve been incredible. Unlike most major festivals that are located in remote areas, TMF is central- it’s off one of the main highways, 5 miles from ASU, and minutes from Phoenix. Imagine what it will be like when a festival is fifteen minutes from the sixth most populous city in the nation, and even closer to some of the most fun loving colleges in the world.
This is absolutely a possibility, but not a focus. Some of the ideas we’ve been rolling around would require a multi day event, but we need to make sure that we don’t just expand for the sake of expanding. We’ll only look at that if we’re confident that we can provide an even better experience by adding another day to the event.
For one day we want to create a unique community in Arizona, where people feel free to do things they couldn’t do 364 days out of a year, but also feel at home. We want attendees leaving with a sense wonder, excitement and jubilation. We want to create an environment that will foster new friendships, memories, and experiences. This event is created for the people of Arizona, to offer something they’ve never had before- something they’re proud of. We want them to get what they deserve and have been missing for so long… a True Music Festival.
