Ultra Music Festival is known as best in class, this reputation having been all the more solidified now that the annual Miami event was come to it’s completion. There’s so much at stake when operating a festival of this magnitude. Ultra Miami has been around many decades and has had immeasurable impacts on hundreds of musicians in the broader electronic scene – the brand-name festival is a cultural force. Now present in several other countries around the world, Ultra Miami becomes the central destination to call all Ultra fans home to.
As the festival begins and you enter the grounds, it doesn’t take long to get back into the Ultra mindset and start having a blast. The sun glistens in the high humidity of tropical south Florida, while the beauty of your surroundings sink in. You pick out your shows and head into the crowd.
The production of the stages hit their marks and boasts lovable, unique traits – familiar stages triggers nostalgia for those returning and sets the bar for new-comers. The mainstage, in particular, boasts massive walls of panels that quickly get you sucked into another world. Traveling from stage to stage feels shorter as well, with some festivals just having too much space to track and causes distraction. A well-rounded amount of exciting cuisine was at arms reach while cruising from place to place, making it convenient to jump in a line so you don’t skip out on a needed energy boost.
As your passing through and meeting new faces, the average person is in good spirits, which can be infectious and make the moment that much more connected.
Whether it’s day or night, the events I attended immaculately hit the spot. It felt like the message was coming through, with each artist taking the stage and sharing a well-prepared, Ultra-ready festival set.
18 year old Kenzie from North Carolina said this about her experience:
“I like the structures of the stages and the production paired with it, the food was super good too. The people were cool, I didn’t have any bad encounters.”
Adrian from central Florida, a veteran in the rave scene, said:
“Resistance stage was my spot, I felt like I was on a different plane. Adam Beyer and Carlos Cox had me thriving. As well as Nicole Moudaber, that was my favorite. I loved when the heat hit me from the stage from the flames, for sure would come back again.”
